Tejas Film Review: Starring Kangana Ranaut

Tejas Movie Review: Kangana Ranaut's High-Flying Adventure Through the Skies and Geo-Politics| Captivating performance in the thrilling film 'Tejas', blending sky and geopolitics for an adrenaline-packed cinematic experience.

Kangana Ranaut takes flight as Tejas Gill, an intrepid air force pilot, in the adrenaline-fueled cinematic journey known as "Tejas." Directed by Sarvesh Mewara, this film is a thrilling rollercoaster that propels you through the realms of aviation and international politics, even though, at times, it feels like the editor was on an overdrive. "Tejas" offers a cinematic escapade that leaves no stone unturned, delivering a potent blend of intense aerial battles, patriotic fervor (thankfully sans chest-thumping jingoism), and a hint of Pakistan-centric intrigue to spice things up.

The initial half of the movie is a whirlwind of action, with scenes whizzing by like commuters scrambling to catch that last train home. Nevertheless, as the narrative takes a sharp turn towards the battlefield in the latter half, the film regains its footing. The climactic aerial combat sequences are skillfully executed, striking a balance that avoids excessive flag-waving patriotism.

Kangana Ranaut's portrayal of Tejas Gill, a fearless IAF pilot, is central to the storyline, with other characters orbiting her like celestial bodies. Relationships take a backseat as Tejas dominates the screen with an intensity that could rival a double shot of espresso. However, the repercussions of her actions often appear conveniently glossed over, owing to her protagonist status.

"Tejas" pays homage to the Indian Air Force with a blend of admiration and creative interpretation, highlighting the valor and unwavering commitment of its pilots. While this patriotic fervor enhances the film's appeal, it occasionally flirts with the line of excessive nationalism.

The film strives to steer clear of unwarranted Pakistan-bashing and instead focuses on the broader issue of terrorism. However, it occasionally ventures into eye-rolling territory, particularly with a villain named 'Sarqalam' and a daring rescue operation designed to portray the adversaries as foolish.

While the movie attempts to introduce us to Tejas's background and the nurturing environment that fueled her dream of becoming a pilot, it skims over these aspects, leaving us with a somewhat one-dimensional view of her character. We know she's courageous and patriotic, but we yearn for more depth.

The film's soundtrack, while fitting for a narrative centered around the Indian Air Force, can be overpowering. The use of loud and haunting music during action sequences occasionally distracts from the plot. While the inclusion of hard rock and metal tones is justified given the film's theme, a more subtle approach could have been more effective.

One curious aspect of the film is the repeated use of the name "Tejas." The protagonist's name is Tejas, she pilots a Tejas aircraft, and her mission bears the moniker "Tejas." This abundance of "Tejas" in the film's narrative can feel contrived and lacking in organic cohesion. It's almost as if the writers were either rushed to brainstorm names or influenced by an overly enthusiastic SEO team to saturate the film with the 'Tejas' keyword.

In summary, "Tejas" soars to great heights in its action sequences but faces turbulence when navigating the intricate landscape of geopolitics. Kangana Ranaut, in her portrayal of Tejas, embodies the spirit of a courageous female air force pilot, determined to prove her mettle both in the Air Force and society as an independent thinker. She finds a fitting counterpart in Anshul Chauhan, who injects depth into the character with subtlety, patience, and a touch of cinematic drama
